As we reintroduce Golden Tote to our members, it is no secret that semi-automated dispensing has already transformed the dispensing process for many practices enabling them to manage workload more efficiently, even during the busiest periods and showing no signs of slowing down.

Daniel Forsdyke and his team from Woolpit Medical Centre, have been reaping the benefits of having Golden Tote installed in their dispensary since September 2021, demonstrating how Golden Tote continues to go from strength to strength supporting dispensing doctors up and down the country by allowing them to maximise their potential in terms of dispensing efficiency and customer service levels.

“It’s been great! When we first had it installed, it was a challenge to get staff on board as there were some reservations as they have been used to certain way of working in the dispensary for such a long time. But after a couple of months, they could soon see the benefits.”

Out of the all of the benefits that Golden Tote has given to Woolpit Medical Centre, time saving has been at the forefront. The staff have been able to cope with the additional demands allowing them to focus on other elements of their day, particularly spending more time with patients and providing additional help and support where needed.

“The time it saves us day to day has been unmeasurable - in putting orders away, in accuracy checking and time saving during the ordering process.”

Daniel also noted how eliminating errors during the ordering process and reducing stock holding had improved the day to day running of their dispensary.

“We are all humans, so it is so easy to create errors such as ordering the wrong strength of medication. But with Golden Tote, this is prevented with the barcode scanning element and as the wrong items are not being ordered, this also prevents wastage.”

As has been the case with every dispensary in the country, post-pandemic life has meant that workload has become heightened and continuing to provide a comprehensive service for customers has become increasingly challenging.

“Since implementing Golden Tote, the speed in which we are able to dispense and the improvement of the turnaround time from when a patient places their prescription, to the prescription being in their hand; has meant that we have been able take on a lot more patients in the last year than in the last six years combined. Golden Tote has allowed us to absorb this increased volume and be more efficient, whereas without it we wouldn’t have been able to do this.”

Daniel and the team are advocates for bringing dispensing into the 21st century and highly recommend that other practices take a chance on semi-automated dispensing.

“We have benefitted from Golden Tote greatly and it is definitely worth having. I would say that it is best to see it first hand, so if you can visit a dispensary that already has it installed or get a demonstration from the implementation team you will see the true power of the system. The idea of it is scarier than it actually is, but it is truly simple to use.”

Daniel also explained how fully supported he and the team were during the implementation process and how the training was simple and comprehensive.

“The entire installation was smooth and we didn’t have any issues. We had two days of face to face training for the staff which was brilliant and the team appreciated being able to ask questions they may have and getting answers straight away. We have also been fully supported by the implementation team since the installation, they have been on hand and dealt with any queries we have had straight away.”
