Many people are promoted to a management role because they are good at their existing job or have a number of years’ experience working in the role, however, this does not automatically mean they will be a good manager. People are often expected to step up to a management position with little or no management training or coaching and are expected to ‘hit the ground running’ with no handover or transition period.
