August Category M announcement
Community Pharmacy England have announced that, due to mistakes in the calculation of the July 2024 Cat M pricing resulting in an overpayment, there will be a downward adjustment in the Drug Tariff of £9m, applied from August.
The Category M announcement in July indicated an additional £21m for the quarter was to be added to the Drug Tariff – however due to the error in calculation, this should have been a decrease of £6m per quarter. The subsequent downward adjustment is -£9m per month, an estimated impact of -£822 per contractor.
The additional re-imbursement received in July's Drug Tariff will be taken back via further reductions between October 2024 and March 2025.
